App Store Payout Thresholds

Well today we’ve made some more progress. Pocket Napoleon has broken the $250 payout threshold for the app store in another two regions, which is great. On the other hand, there are a few regions, which at this rate aren’t going to break the threshold until well into 2010, but thats the way it goes I guess.

I’ll explain the iTunes App Store regions and thresholds a little more. Currently the app store is divided into seven regions

  • United States
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • Europe
  • United Kingdom
  • Japan
  • Rest of World

As a developer you have to sell over $250 (after Apple’s 30% cut) in each of these regions to get paid your earnings from that region. So in Pocket Napoleon’s case, it has been selling well in the first five but as you can imagine, has not been as popular in the Japan/Rest of World. So until we sell $250 worth of product in these two regions (even if its $249 in each) we wont get paid.

I haven’t looked into exchange rates in these regions so thats something I’ll have to research in the next day or two and post my findings.

Congratulations on your sales.I wish I have that kind of sales on my app :).
Did you do some kind of promotion? Reviews?
How do you think the users find your app?

Its hard to tell but looks like some of the spikes came from links on relevant facebook, myspace, bebo groups. Plus ive made use of twitter which seems to be having an effect.

I’m writing a post about app marketing at the minute so keep checking back :).
